Jim Villanucci's Biography
Villanucci is a native of Lorain, Ohio. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where
he obtained a degree in engineering. Soon after graduation, he became a stand-up comedian,
and toured throughout the United States and Canada.
He eventually landed in Los Angeles where he was a writer for the Tonight Show
with Jay Leno. That led to a career in talk radio. Prior to KKOB, Jim was heard on Hot
Talk 105.1 FM in Las Vegas, KDWN 720 AM in Las Vegas, and KOGO AM 600 in San Diego.
Jim Villanucci began performing
comedy in the mid-80's shortly after obtaining a degree in engineering from the
University of Cincinnati. Soon after winning several local competitions, including the
"Funniest Person in Greater Cincinnati," he began touring the United States and
Canada as a professional comedian.
His journey eventually led him to Los Angeles where he was a
contributing writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as being a regular
performer at the LA "Showcase" clubs.
In 1993 he got into talk radio in a big way, as a night-time host
on the 50,000 watt KDWN in Las Vegas. With KDWN's strong night-time signal, his show was
heard over most of the western United States. After a 3 year stint at KDWN, he moved to
KOGO in San Diego where he was an overnight host.
In 1997, he moved back to Las Vegas where he was the co-host of the
highly rated "Jim and Julie Show" and from 1998-99 hosted the "Jim
Villanucci Show", both on Hot Talk 105.1. Now he can be heard on 770 KKOB, the 50,000
watt blow torch out of Albuquerque, New Mexico from 3 to 7 PM (Mountain Time) every Monday
through Friday afternoon.
